We are excited to begin a brand new adventure with all of our 3 & 4 year olds at TCS Pre-K! 

Welcome to Timberlake Pre-K!

The Pre-K at Timberlake Christian Schools believes in the importance of quality early experiences as building blocks for future success. We strive to provide an enriched preschool environment that meets the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of young children ages 3 years and 4 years old in a Christ-centered atmosphere. Daily the Pre-K program operates from 6:30am to 5:45pm. Our Pre-K year runs from late August through the first week in June. We offer Summer Camp from June to August making the school open year round. Both part-time and full-time programs are available with a low child to adult ratio.

PRE-K PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Entrance Requirements

We currently offer a full day and half day program for both 3 & 4 yr olds. A child must be 3 or 4 by September 30th of the current school year in order to be enrolled in this program and be completely potty-trained. ​

Full Day Program

Our full day Pre-K program is open during the school day hours, 8:20 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students may arrive as early as 7:45 a.m. without an additional fee, but should be in their classroom by 8:20 a.m.  Before and after school care is optional, for an additional fee. Parents can choose to add before and/or after care to their tuition if they need it.  Please see the enrollment packet for more details regarding our extended care program. The full day program will be open all school year with only the following exceptions: Labor Day, 3 days at Thanksgiving, 3 days at Christmas, 2 days at New Year’s, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, as well as a fall and spring Teacher In-Service Day and a Parent/Teacher Conference Day. (Specific dates listed on the Pre-K calendar).  ​

HALF DAY PROGRAM

We offer two half day options for our three and four year olds:

     >> 5 Half Days (Monday-Friday)
     >> 3 Half Days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

Our half day Pre-K program is open during the school day hours, 8:20 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and will be closed for a fall, Christmas and spring break, as well as any days the full day Pre-K is closed (see the list above). Students may arrive as early as 7:45 a.m. without an additional fee, but should be in their classroom by 8:20 a.m. There is no after care available for half day students. Students must be picked up by the posted pick up time.

CLASSROOM GOALS

3 Year Olds

• Know that God loves them
  
• Expand knowledge of God and His plan for us through Bible stories, songs and scripture memory verses
  
• Recognize colors and basic shapes
  
• Recognize #1-15, Counting 1-30
  
• Learn names, sounds and formation of all letters
  
• Recite alphabet (not singing the ABC song)
  
• Recognize and spell name
  
• Use scissors correctly
  
• Hold pencil/crayon/marker correctly
  
• Share and play well with others
  
• Be able to sit and listen during learning time, story time, etc.
  
• Gain independence and confidence in language through activities, such as show and tell, story time, and dramatic play
  

4 Year Olds

• Know that God loves them
  
• Encourage children to develop a love for Jesus, family and America
  
• Prepare students academically, socially and spiritually for Kindergarten
  
• Recognize, understand concept and write #1-20
  
• Count #1-100
  
• Name, sound and picture of all 26 letters, writing lower & upper case letters
  
• Some children will be able to sound out words and read short sentences
  
• Recognize colors and basic shapes
  
• Listen and follow directions
  
• Write with a pencil, cut, glue
  
• Recognize and write their name
  
• Share and play well with others
  
• Be able to recite Bible verses
  

DAILY ACTIVITIES

Daily activities will focus on age appropriate developmental skills that support the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of young children while promoting kindergarten readiness.  The children will participate in Bible, recess, and a resource class (Spanish, art, music, library, PE) each day.  Teachers will provide their class with a more detailed schedule during the first week of school.

TEACHER-STUDENTS RATIO

Our classes for both 3 & 4 year olds have no more than 10 students with one teacher.
